Lady --- The Dog

Today I hanged out with my neighbor, a nice elderly woman named Laura and her dog, Lady.
I pet Lady and her ruffled, sleek coat. Her fur had cute patches of white, black, and dark orange-brown. Lady is a beagle breed, so she is naturally beautiful and slightly big.
At first, when I moved in the neighborhood, Laura baked a fruit pound cake for us to eat. She rang the bell when we first moved into our old, 1900's farm house, and offered us her pound cake.
My family gladly agreed, said thank-you's, and we ate the pound cake the next morning for breakfast with a glass cup of warm milk and grainy oatmeal.
When I came out in our back yard to play, there was weeds and dandelions splattered this way and that on the fresh, green grass. It was a beautiful scenery, yes, but I had a big fear of bugs, insects, and arachnids (spiders), so I did not sprawl onto the dirt.
I felt little beads of water trickle down on my sleeve in the summer heat, and I looked across to were the water was coming from. It came from Laura's spraying, emerald hose, and I could see her through the middle-length, ebony-painted gate. She was watering her blooming, colorful flowers and her tall, leafy trees.
We said some brief hello's. I did not realize she had a dog until a year later, when I was walking home from school. There was Lady, barking at me, the 'intruder'. She pretty much barks at anything that moves, only if they aren't her family or people she knows.
When Laura was out in her own back yard, I asked her if I could come in and play with the dog.
Since then, I've been playing with Lady occasionally, and visiting inside Laura's house sometimes. She had a nice relaxing area in her home with a view of the bright sun and white, comfy chairs. There was flamboyant bird chimes hanging up high on the ceiling. The rest of the cozy house was shady, cool, and quiet. Pretty much my dream house!
I got to feed Lady some dog treats this noon, one of them was a mini, yellow dog bone.
Lady inspired me to get a dog. But, I did not expect my mom to say yes. She did, however say I could get a dog when I turn sixteen years old. I will be getting an Abyssinian breed Guinea Pig soon, though. Hopefully soon enough that I can introduce my hamster to my future Guinea Pig.
